MINI COLLECTION: "Dalam Satu Kaki Kubik" (In One Feet Cubic)

After going back from Shanghai, one of my lecturers offered me to join the mini collection class (final semester class) unofficially to prepare Jakarta Fashion Week. But, I didn't make it to the top 4 for JFW class. But I still continued until I finished the design process, tiring but fun! *and I gained so many knowledge. :D

Basically, my theme was "Dalam Satu Kaki Kubik", which was an experiment done by David S. with other nature biologists and National Geographic (refer to Nat Geo Indonesia Magazine February 2010 issue). So David put one feet cubic cube in some random place (my interest was his research in the sea in Moorea, France). Uniquely, there were 6 million+ species (excluded planktons) in that cube. 1 cm diameter Octopus larva was one example.

So, I did little bit research, some developments, and did some designing (even though not as much as thousands due to shu-uemura deadline). From all of the process, I made my final collection. ENJOY!! :D

ps: I also did some presentations, so COPY RIGHTED!! :D *not automatically though.
I have to admit that I'm still amateur in this kind of stuffs, I'm still studying.. hha..
I will also reveal "the mind"

Thanks to: Miss Tanya :DD for teaching me lots of things. Even though I'm not graded or even made it into JFW, I learned tons from you :***

Fashion Pro Magazine Fashion Illustration Competition 2012: EAGERLY FOR PEACEFULNESS IN SAMURAI SOCIETY

This is my forth competition (after Miami Fashion Week, Mazda Sketch Contest, and Indomaret). I spotted this competition around mid March 2012 (during mid first semester in RDI) from Phalie Studio's facebook (my first fashion design course). This competition was held Fashion Pro Magazine Indonesia. Basically, we just need to give them fashion illustration (just sketching and no need to think about openings and stuffs.. hha.. XDD)

During preparation, I was crazy with the book of ""SAMURAI: an illustrated history" by Mitsuo Kure". I saw women in samurai society and samurais' ranks and positions such as Samurai commander and his Shucho (in Nanbokucho Period)

I also watched animes (Japanese cartoon) during that time. I saw Nurarihyon no Mago, which the "good demons" had Japanese traditional cultures and wars. They also wanted peacefulness in their society.

From both things, I decided to create the concept of "Peacefulness in Samurai Society". Of course samurais had their own families. They also wanted peacefulness with their beloved. I created an illustration influenced by Samurai costume and kimono. On the right, you can see a women (inspired by women in Samurai Society) spread Sakura ;that symbolized peacefulness and spring; to the other 2 samurais on the left as the symbol of happiness (Samurai commander and his Shucho in Nanbokucho Period)

from hundreds submissions and judged by Yoyok Budiman, fashion styling lecturer, illustrator, Indah Wibowo, Business Director fashionPro dan MN Retno Murti, Editorial Director fashionPro, I made it into TOP 10!! Thank you all!! even though I didn't make it to the top 3, it was worth to try. Fashion Pro Mag also gave me a reference letter that I made it into top 10!!
