TEXTURE

So last Sunday I just went out from the hospital and did this HW straight away.

So, my lecturer told us to make 10 different kinds of textures and tell him how we made it. And since I only had two days to did it and just went out from the hospital, I decided to make a theme of "NOIR ET BLANC" (Black and white) due to lack of cyan, magenta, and yellow paint =.="

but, since the marking criteria is also based on color creativity = I DIEEEEEEE!! *hopefully I pass this one. *PANIC ATTACK!!

ENJOY!! :D

DRAPED PEG SKIRT

Yes!! my current school has lots things practically. We have to sew a skirt (DRAPED PEG SKIRT --> a skirt that has volume on the top, has a yoke, and has drapes) in just 2 weeks (thank goodness that my previous school taught me how to make one, so I only need to sew this in 7 hours :P )

ps: this is my messiest skirt EVERRRRRR due to many incidents. =.=a
like my sewing machine and overlocking machine went completely insane, my iron was completely dirty (that made my waistband has brown stripes) ETCETCETC!!

*at least I submit it though (via my dad, I was hospitalized due to dengue fever *suckssss)

COLOR WHEEL

Since I've moved here, I made a friend with A. His parents has a convection. So he asked me about my assignments and told me to upload it. Since I'm not an facebook uploader when it comes to school assignments, so I upload it here instead. At least people can learn some from here. *dreaming.of.opening.a.course.mode.on :D

So, above is my color wheel, so we played with colors (the hexagon), hues (the outer hexagon), neutrals (the middle star), tints (9 boxes above), and color harmonies (the cubes bellow). (I did lots of mistakes though, and it was quite messy in the real one :P, computer tricks)

100th POST!!

This is my 101st post. Hha.. I never thought that I would design this much, post this much, and share this much to the world. Thank you so much all for your support and prayer. Need it 'till I die :D

Sincerely,

Lydia :)

MIAMI BEACH INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK, INTERNATIONAL STUDENT COMPETITION:: BARONG

I found out about this competition during my free time as not a student, either in NAFA or Raffles Design Institute Jakarta (RDI Jakarta).

At that time, I literally sad, down, desperate, etc. Until one day, when my church held a paintings exhibition for finding a donation for my church construction and they asked me to be a saleswoman. My parents supported me, so yeah, I became a saleswoman for 6 days. :)

At that time, I saw a "Barong" painting by NN (no name). It was wonderful and for me, I thought Barong was a devil.
One day during the exhibition, the coordinator asked my friend and I to have lunch with her at a Singaporean restaurant. That moment, we talked about paintings and shared what I had heard from the experts of paintings. She also told me that Barong was a turning point, eventhough Barong has a redish colour, it was actually the good guy on a dance.

At that moment, I decided that I going to take Barong as my theme and inspiration for the contest, I start preparing stuffs, and submit it when I started in Raffles. :)

Facts about Barong:
Barong is a mystical creature (from Bali, Indonesia) which was the good creature fighting a bad creature called Raghda.

Fabric: Linen, Lame, Satin, and Poleng (Hindustan fabric in Bali)
Material: Hair extensions, painted ping-pong balls
I also design a print (well, just paint my linen with gold markers) which has the motifs of Prada (floral motif from Bali)

yeahh.. In the end, I didn't make it as the finalist.
But, congratulation to Diep Nguyen and Patrycija Pagas (both from International School of Costume and Fashion Design, Warsaw, Poland) and Christopher Abella (from Art Attelier Studio, Miami) for making to the finals. :D

MAZDA SKETCH CONTEST: HORSE AND RIDER

When the orientation begin, I saw a poster of a competition, which was Mazda Style Parade: Sketch Contest. So we have to design which was inspired by the design of Mazda. I forgot which cars had to be the inspiration, but I took Mazda MX-5 as the inspiration.

During the process, my dad told me to see the commercial. So, I saw the commercial of Mazda MX-5 from Mazda Japan's website, and it was very interesting that Takao Kijima wanted the concept of horse riding in the design. :D

Here's my description for the contest::

“But I believe the car should feel like an extension of your being.

This is the essence of Horse and Rider.

- Takao Kijima (Former Program Manager MX-5, MAZDA Japan)

In my designs, MAZDA MX-5, which has responsive sports handling and performance provided by a powerful 160ps 2-litre engine with an amazing sporty style, really inspires me. Not only that, but also what MAZDA tries to achieve the MAZDA MX-5’s concept, which is the essence of horse and rider, just like a skillful and powerful samurai archer and his horse due to their strong feelings communication during the 800s to the late 1800s in Japan.

My designs reflect the combination between the samurai and MAZDA MX-5’s sporty style. Not forgetting bold and strong colors such as red, grey, silver and black to symbolized the powerful performance by MAZDA MX-5. Also the curves and drapes that are reflected by the sexy curves and the gun metal alloys.

********************************************

In the end, I lost though. I didn't made it as a winner. At least I got a new friend (she was and is my senior at my current school) though. I met her during the submission at a mall in Jakarta. At least that pay enough :D

BUTTERFLY

HUNTING FOR TURKEY

At that time I design this, I was so crazy with Saiyuki Reload series (anime). At that moment, watching Saiyuki Reload, I also read the virtual encyclopedia of the world costume. Until a certain page that showed Egyptian Turkey Seller, which was showing mystical aura, feathers, mysterious, and I'm curious what's inside that wide costume that she was wearing. :)

THE NANBOKUCHO PERIOD SAMURAI COMMANDER AND HIS SHUCHO

Inspired by the book of "SAMURAI: an illustrated history" by Mitsuo Kure

There's a picture of a Nanbokucho Period Samurai Commander and a sucho (secretary), so yeah I took it as an inspiration.

BIKER CHIC

Before I resign from NAFA, I asked one of my lecturer to give my portfolios back.
For this assignment, I have to design with grey markers (warm and grey markers). She also gave the fabric swatches that we have to use. We also had to use grey or white or black manikins.

Inspired by the New Yorkers Biker Chic and the illustration inspiration by Tin Iglesias (a Filipino fashion student) and the famous fashion illustrator, Laura Laine.
